Safe Patient Care Act
At Djerriwarrh Health Services our Nurses and Midwives are essential to ensuring quality and safe care. Our Nurse and Midwife to patient ratios within our wards comply with the minimum staffing levels prescribed by the Safe Patient Care Act.
Information regarding our Mixed wards and the number of birthing suites is nominated below:
Mixed Wards
Ward MSU: Medical/Surgical/ Palliative Care
The name of the mixed ward: MSU- 18 beds
The total number of occupied beds in the mixed ward: 12 beds (10 x medical/ Surgical and 2 x Palliative
The different ratios that would apply to each portion;
Medical Surgical: AM shift 1:5 plus in charge, PM shift 1:6 plus in charge, ND shift 1:10
Palliative: AM shift 1:4 plus in charge, PM shift 1:5 plus in charge, ND shift 1:8The expected number of occupied beds in each portion of the ward during the following 6- month period: 12 beds
Ward Maternity: Birthing Suites we have 1 Birthing suite on our maternity unit
Maternity
Djerriwarrh Health Services provides maternity care for:
- Women and their babies requiring Maternity assessment/postnatal care ( after the birth of their baby); and
- Women who are delivering their baby following a low-risk pregnancy
