General Information - Allied Health & Nursing Services


Information regarding services is available on the Health Pathways Website (have hyperlink) for Allied Health and Nursing Services at Western Health.

All referrals received at Western Health will be triaged by a clinician into one of the following timeframes according to clinical requirements:

  • Urgent
  • Routine / Waitlist

Patients will be notified of the approximate waiting times via post if deemed Routine/ Waitlist.

Should a patient have been discharged and have a change in their condition and require re-referral, the new referral will be triaged based on the new information received.

If the patient is over 65 years (over 55 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) a referral through My Aged Care for the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) may be required. Exceptions to these are listed for each discipline below. Should a My Aged Care referral be required you can call 1800 200 422 or refer through the website (add link).

NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) Services are available at Western Health for therapeutic supports, home modifications and continence nursing. The individual services that are able to accept NDIS referrals are listed for each discipline.

For some services a fee does apply. Patients will be notified at point of booking of the fee associated. Please refer to our fee schedule for further information (Hyperlink)
