Service Descriptions

Day Medical provides a same-day in-patient service for the administration of chemotherapy as prescribed by the Western Health Oncologist and Blood and blood products as prescribed by the Western Health Haematologists. Iron infusions can be requested by GPs. Other treatments that can safely be infused in a day setting are also considered. Infusions for the treatment of Crohn’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis can also be considered in consultation with the Treating Specialist. Day Medical is staffed by Oncologists and Registered Nurses trained in the administration of cytotoxic agents The unit is also supported by Allied Health staff and Patient Services Assistants employed at Melton Health.

Eligibility

Patients requiring infusions and transfusions that can be safely given in a Day setting.

Access hours

Tuesday to Thursday and alternate Monday's between 9.00am to 5.00pm

Referral process

Referrals accepted by General Practitioners, Medical Specialists or other hospitals.
