Official opening of Melton Health & Community Services
On Wednesday 8 May 2019, Djerriwarrh Health Services celebrated the official opening of the new Melton Health and Community Services Centre by the Minister for Health & Ambulance Services, the Honourable Jenny Mikakos, MP.
It was an exciting day for the health service and the community, celebrating innovation and collaboration in future service delivery. It is the first time in Victoria a collaborative partnership exists where five organisations are working together under the one roof. The services provided from the Melton Health and Community Services Centre support some of the most vulnerable within the Melton and Bacchus Marsh community.
The concept of services working together in one location will help to bridge gaps which the most vulnerable can find themselves in. The five organisations are: Djerriwarrh Health Service, Mid-West Area Mental Health, MacKillop Family Services, Co-Health and Odessey House Victoria provide a range of essential women's, children's and family programs, mental health and alcohol and other drug programs.
Since the centre opened, there has been more than 500 patients treated each week and we expect that to increase throughout the year as the community better understands the services available to them in Melton. Referrals to the individual services are directly to the organisation running that service. Information can be found on their websites.
